While we’re on the subject, I guess it’s always necessary to find a good place to go for someone who is suffering from substance abuse. Choosing the right drug treatment center is the first step in their recovery. There are many things to consider when choosing a drug rehab center, but I guess its ok just as long as it doesn’t feel like prison right? Also a factor is if they have the right program for your addiction, like say, if you suffering from alcoholism then you’re going to need a good alcohol rehab program and probably an alcohol rehab center. I found a good place for doing some drug rehabilitation, which also has alcohol rehab by the way. It’s a residential type so you’ll have some sense of comfort in your spiritual recovery, but of course you can’t spend all your time alone, you’ll still need to get with the program. Aside from your own unit with beautiful and inspiring views, you’ll also have access to various facilities, one of which is meditation garden for your spiritual fitness and also a gym, so you’ll also be fit physically as well. There are numerous activities to support the recovery, like yoga and outdoor recreational activities. Addiction treatment starts by undergoing drug detox (if necessary), and then being assigned a primary therapist, which in turn leads to your individualized clinical program which ranges from individual therapy to a cognitive-behavioral groups. You can even have therapy with your family if you’re comfortable with it. From there it’s really up to you, the comfort being offered is as close to home as you can get but the real treatment depends on your willingness to recover. In the end it all matters on just saying no to drugs, but if it comes to this then it really is the best place for drug treatment.

Let’s get serious for a bit shall we? I just want to talk about something that happens in whatever part or the world you are: substance abuse. I’m mainly talking about drugs and cigarettes, having gone that road before. But don’t get me wrong people, I didn’t indulge in it, I just observed and have since moved on to greener pastures (no pun intended). Anyway, I came across some information about the most addictive drugs and have clarified the myths and rumors surrounding these substances, but the only thing that matters is that they’re dangerous. The said substances are related to the top killers of our time, heart, kidney and circulatory diseases (including strokes) and of course, cancer.

First on the list is heroin, I’ve never actually seen or even encountered this, only in books, TV and movies. But from what I’ve seen it’s the worst of them all. So if you know someone showing heroin symptoms then you better make them get some help about it, heroin withdrawal is probably the worst. Among the numerous side effects of heroin, chronic constipation should be the least of your worries; the most severe would be dying of an overdose. So don’t even think about it.

Next up would be cocaine, again something I haven’t really encountered. But it’s deadly as well. To actually have cocaine addiction means you’re probably very rich because from what I gathered it doesn’t come cheap. Some cocaine withdrawal symptoms include irritability, depression and agitation. Not so bad you say? There are still long term effects and overdose as well, and its not likely you’re going to need the lessened attention span. So it’s a no-no (like any of them are not).

Another one is methamphetamines, now this I’ve seen a lot of. I happen to know a lot who suffer from methamphetamine drug addiction, relatives included. Some have kicked the habit but some are still using. Dubbed as the “poor man’s cocaine” because of its similarities to the effects of cocaine, but the manufacturing and selling price is relatively lower, which also makes it highly available in the streets. Those are most of the reasons why it’s so easy to get addicted to. Some meth warning signs include increased respiration and/or body temperature, inability to sleep and loss of appetite. It’s probably common but maybe it’s time to have a talk with someone you know with these symptoms.

Now the only thing that’s actually legal here are cigarettes, assuming you meet the age requirements wherever you are. I used to smoke a lot before but I haven’t smoked a cigarette for the past three years (alright!) and I’m not planning on smoking one anytime soon. Quitting isn’t easy but hey, I did it, so can you.

The rest of them are prescription drugs, painkillers, and stress and anxiety medication. And I guess it’s only available to those who need it (and those who pretend to) and if abused, they’re as bad as the illegal ones.

So, I hope you gained a bit of insight on this subject. Because you can really save a life by helping someone who’s addicted any of those substances and if you are the one who’s addicted then maybe it’s time to get some help, for yours and everyone else’s sake. If you’re actually reading this then it’s a start, from here you can go on to searching the internet for information on your addiction and the possible treatments. All I can say now is good luck.

Seriously, nobody’s perfect. We only know how to think more than other creatures. Our complicated brains tell every other living things that we are superior. Think again because we are not really that much. We just have that kluge or that rush and unthinkable solution that makes things work out, not really for the best though. That is why when there is someone who could make something more than the mediocre solution, we call them genuis. But for the rest of us, we just have that kluge thing going on.

What makes that kluge in the mind?

  • Evolution. Throughout time there is only the tinkering and fixing of what’s already there. So, inventions are just results of human clumsiness.
  • Memory. When we remember, we only take note of the hints and not really all the details.

The only good news about kluge is it brings out the creativity out of everybody. However, it still doesn’t make us the rational beings like we are separated from the rest in the living world.
